Format and practicalities
Online or in Rheinfelden: the same coaching, two formats
By video from a place where you can talk undisturbed, or in a quiet room in Rheinfelden. The coaching itself is the same. This page explains what you need and how a session runs.
At a glance
- Online
- By video in Switzerland, Germany and Austria
- In person
- At the Rotes Haus in Rheinfelden, by arrangement
- Language
- English or German, your choice
- Session
- Usually one hour
- First step
- Introductory call, 20 to 30 minutes, free
- Confidential
- Sessions are not recorded
Which format fits right now?
Sometimes just getting to an appointment uses up the energy you then need for the conversation. Sometimes there is nowhere at home where you can talk openly. Either is a good reason to choose one format or the other. Neither is the better one.
-
Online by video
This often works well when
- getting to an appointment is already a hurdle in itself,
- a familiar room makes it easier to talk openly,
- sessions are meant to be regular and travelling would make that unrealistic,
- you live outside north-west Switzerland.
-
In person in Rheinfelden
This often works well when
- being in the same room makes it easier to get talking,
- there is nowhere at home to talk undisturbed,
- a consistent, quiet room lowers the tension, for example with sensory sensitivity,
- the journey from the region is manageable.
You can change the format later. Your first choice does not tie you down.
Stage 2The bridgeWhat support can look like in practice.
How a session runs
Online and in-person sessions follow the same rhythm. There is no fixed script, but there is a reliable frame.
-
Before the session
For online sessions you receive a link beforehand. There is no account to create and nothing to install beyond your browser. We also agree in advance what happens if the connection drops, so a technical glitch does not turn into an abrupt ending.
-
During the session
We start on time and finish on time, which is a form of reliability too. Usually we begin with what has happened since last time, then decide together what to work on today.
-
At the end
We finish with something concrete. Not a long list, but one step you feel ready for. Next time we look at what came of it.
You can write things down, send something in advance or take breaks. You never have to explain or justify any of it.
What you need for online sessions
-
Technology
A stable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone, and headphones if you have them. A computer or tablet is usually more comfortable than a phone because the picture stays steadier. It is not essential.
-
An undisturbed place
This matters most. Confidentiality is only as good as the room you are speaking from. If that is difficult at home, you are welcome to say so. There is usually a way: a different time, a different place, or an in-person session after all.
-
Camera on or off
The camera does not have to be on. If eye contact uses up energy that is needed elsewhere, we talk without video. That is not an exception and needs no explanation.
Language, countries and invoicing
Sessions are in English or German. Both are genuine working languages, including for difficult or technical subjects. You decide which one fits better.
The coaching is the same in Switzerland, Germany and Austria. The education systems use different terms, such as apprenticeship, vocational training or dual study programmes, but the questions behind them are often the same.
If you live outside these three countries, it is worth asking first. There may be practical or legal reasons why it would not work, and that is better clarified before we start.
When another route fits better
Online coaching is not the best choice in every situation, and coaching is not always the right thing either. If something else would fit better, I will say so openly.
Works well online or in person
- Everyday life, getting started and structure
- Direction and transitions
- Preparing conversations and standing up for yourself
- Parent coaching, even if the child does not come along
Better handled elsewhere
- In an acute crisis or where there is danger, help is needed locally, from medical or emergency psychiatric services. In an emergency: 144 or 112.
- An assessment or treatment belongs with professionals near you who are part of the local system.
- Support that is tied to a place, such as school provisions, social benefits or official careers guidance, comes from local services.

Practical questions
Online or in person: which makes more sense?
Both work. Online saves travelling and makes sessions easier to plan, but it needs a place where you can talk undisturbed. In person in Rheinfelden makes sense if face-to-face contact helps you, or if a quiet, consistent room outside your everyday life matters to you.
Can I switch formats later?
Yes. Your first choice does not tie you down. We agree on whatever fits better at the time.
What happens if the connection drops?
We agree on that before the first online session. That way you already know what happens next, and a technical glitch does not feel like an abrupt ending.
Are sessions recorded?
No. Online sessions run through an external video service and are not recorded. More on this in the privacy policy.
How long is a session, and how often do we meet?
A session usually lasts one hour. We decide the interval together and adjust it as we go. Shorter intervals often make sense at the start, longer ones later.
Where can I find directions to Rheinfelden?
On the Rheinfelden location page. It also lists the questions about the room and access you can ask before your first appointment.
What does coaching cost?
Rates differ for Switzerland, Germany and Austria, because each is invoiced separately. Payment is by invoice before the session. The terms are discussed openly before any work together begins, at the latest in the introductory call.
Continue on your way

We can work out together which format fits.
In the introductory call we talk about what brings you here, how I work and whether online or in person suits you better. It is not a free coaching session, and in the end you decide.
